Lewis Prime Brings Legendary Steakhouse Family To Wellington
By Patrick Sherry
By popular demand and with mouth-watering American classics with a modern twist, Lewis Prime Grill has arrived in Wellington bringing everything you need for a perfect dining experience.
Owner Ralph Lewis, part of the family behind the 80-year-old landmark Okeechobee Steakhouse, opened Lewis Prime Grill in Wellington in May. He explained that the village was hungry for a new, high-quality American steakhouse in the area. Continued growth, combined with demand from longtime customers, made Wellington the ideal place to establish a new location, he said.
“Wellington’s growing,” Lewis said. “We had a lot of people from the community who had been asking us for several decades to be out here.”
Lewis Prime Grill took over a location that had previously been occupied by the chain restaurant Stonewood Grill.
At Lewis Prime, steaks are a central part of the restaurant’s menu and reputation. From filet mignon to the signature New York strip, chefs use the best cuts of meat for your meal, which can be paired with a variety of enhancements. Outside of steak, the menu also includes a range of protein-infused items with chicken, pork and seafood, as well as handheld burgers and sandwiches.
Lewis said that aside from its high-quality steaks, the Beef Wellington and French Onion Soup are some of the more popular items ordered by customers. Be sure to finish your excellent dining experience with dessert; the chefs have a selection of sweet treats available.
All of these menu options are meant to deliver innovative flavors to make your meal unforgettable and keep you coming back for more.
Customers can enjoy meals at Lewis Prime with an expertly crafted cocktail or other mainstay alcoholic beverage from its unique bar. Lewis noted that the bar is one of the largest in the western communities. It refines the traditional happy hour with its daily Prime Social Hour that offers great deals with excellent food items. Every Monday, the restaurant also offers special pricing for Martini Mondays to start off your week.
“There’s no other restaurant in the area like it,” Lewis said. “It’s very whimsical. It has an incredible, fabulous bar area and the menu’s all unique.”
Lewis, of course, is no stranger to the restaurant industry. His family is well-known in Palm Beach County’s culinary scene. His grandparents opened what is now the Okeechobee Steakhouse in West Palm Beach — recognized as Florida’s oldest steakhouse restaurant.
“My grandfather started the Okeechobee Steakhouse in 1947, so I grew up in this industry,” Lewis said.
Since then, the family has expanded to open the Lewis Steakhouse in Jupiter, another Lewis Prime Grill in the Acreage/Loxahatchee area, and a butcher shop called the Okeechobee Prime Meat Market. The new restaurant in Wellington is the latest location expanding the family’s string of successful steakhouse restaurants.
Lewis Prime Grill is not only in Wellington to serve high-quality food to residents; it is also giving back to the local community through its Local Food 4 Local Families initiative. The program supports children, first responders, disaster victims, families and veterans through meals, fundraising and community partnerships.
Wellington residents have welcomed Lewis Prime Grill with open arms. Lewis believes that the restaurant’s excellent food, distinctive atmosphere and high-quality service are what’s bringing in customers.
“Wellington has been incredible to us,” Lewis said. “They have welcomed us with open arms. They’ve asked us for decades to come out here. We do not have enough good things to say about the Wellington community.”
As for the future, Lewis explained that the Wellington location will act as a prototype model for future Lewis Prime Grill locations across the state.
“It’s a very unique opportunity for us, and we are definitely grateful for that opportunity,” Lewis said. “This Wellington [restaurant] is our model that we’re going to expand and open other locations with.”
The family’s reputation for successful restaurants will make the new location a fixture in the Wellington community. With three generations of old-world dry-aged steak craftsmanship and a strong neighborhood connection, Lewis Prime Grill is a great place to enjoy a perfect night out.
“If you’re a resident or local of Wellington, I would definitely give Lewis Prime Grill Wellington your next try,” Lewis said. “You’re going to get more than your money’s worth.”
