When Disaster Strikes, The Radio Club Is There
In 1998, Wellington put out an appeal for volunteer communicators to help with the newly forming Emergency Operations Center. Only one volunteer — Larry Lazar — showed up, but one was all it took. When the Wellington Radio Club was formed, there were 13 members. Today, there are more than 70 members.
