The club’s 2012-13 initiative is to put the “fun” back into fundraising. With big hearts and spunky attitudes, club members have been giving back to the community for more than three decades, since its founding as the Welcome Wagon in 1977.

JFK Medical Center in Atlantis has added a new method of heart valve replacement to its cardiac surgery arsenal as an alternative for patients who are not strong candidates for open-heart surgery. “Only 125 centers in the country were selected, and only five here in Florida — and we’re one of those,” said Dr. Marcos Nores, medical director of the Valvular Heart Institute and Cardiovascular Services at JFK.
